Discworld. Yeah. There's a really big turtle involved, and a book series that dictates our lives. *sigh* But a good MUD. Kinda weird. |

Yeah, I tried the whole mud admin thing. There was an old mud, based largely on the Discworld codebase (DW mudlib running on a heavily modified mudOS base) that died. I tried reviving it. A year later of not much sleep, I abandoned it. I got close enough that I could actually log in. However, there was a problem with it, and no player targeting command would work right. That included "tell", some versions of "look", etc. Not cool. So the project died. But it worked, mostly, briefly. Hosted on my G4 cube. -M |

Another request: the ability to gag internal commands. I like my status bar to keep me up to date about my hit points, guild points, and experience. One of those ways is for me to do that is to update on mud output during combat. However, that's an extra line of spam or two each second. Please gaggable it? Thank you, -Mack |

Jay, could we have a slight change to the macro keys so that, instead of appending the command to the text in the input pane, the command is just thrown straight to the mud, please? Thank you! -Mack |

Alrighty. MCCP stands for MUD Client Compression Protocol. I'm not sure the origins, but it's kind of becoming the defacto standard for heavy-use MUDs needing compression. Discworld, as mentioned above, complains at you on login if you don't have it. There is only one piece of software that supports MCCP for the mac. However, it's actually a proxy, not a client. Jay, if you're interested in the source, I can find it. I believe the thing is called mcclient, for what that's worth. When the Disc stops crashing, I'll try to get you a link to some of it. To have a look at discworld, and all it's compressed glory, telnet://discworld.atuin.net:4242 -Mack demosthenes[at]hotmail[dot]com |
