LSN Mobile has introduced its "Local News, Weather and More" Android application that aggregates news and information from more than 250 local sites. Consumers can access local breaking news, video clips, weather, sports scores, school closings and more from LSN Mobile's network of local media which include ABC, NBCU-Telemundo, Cox Television, McGraw Hill, Raycom, Local TV and many more. The free app has debuted in Android Market among the top free news apps and is available by searching "Local News, Weather and More."

This is the first phase in LSN Mobile's delivery. In early May, it says it will begin delivering individual applications for each of its affiliates.

"With our Local News, Weather and More Android app, LSN Mobile is helping broadcasters bring relevant content that we know consumers want, right to their hands, anytime, anywhere," said Lee Durham, CEO of LSN Mobile. "Consumers may not always have time to watch a full newscast, but they do want to watch breaking news clips as well as receive highly geotargeted news and information, right to their mobile phones. As a result, both broadcasters and mobile advertisers benefit because they are able to reach consumers in new and more prolific ways."

Local News, Weather and More works using LSN Mobile's proprietary media-to-mobile platform that aggregates and delivers news and other content from numerous local media partners, offering their stations' branded Web site content. The application is downloaded to an Android phone which pulls preset news and content and updates real time.

LSN Mobile's Local News, Weather and More Android app includes the following features:

Features for broadcast affiliates and advertisers:

  • Style options for look and feel of local affiliates' sites.
  • Ability to add content through a Web call within the application. This way, when new features are added, the user does not have to download a new version each time.
